Willow-leaf Fuchsia
Fuchsia hatschbachii
Willow-leaf Fuchsia is a perennial shrub native to the temperate mountains of Southeastern Brazil. Like many garden Fuchsia, Willow-leaf Fuchsia is a wonderful ornamental plant that flowers continuously from late spring through fall. Vibrant, pink-purple, tubular flowers are a hit with hummingbirds and bumblebees alike. This uncommon variety is also one of the most cold hardy Fuchsia, tolerating winter temperatures down close to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. While very cold temperatures may cause the plant to die down to the ground, they reliably come back in spring year after year.
Growing up to six feet high and wide, Willow-leaf Fuchsia has an arching habit in full sun. If given a shady spot, this plant will take on a clambering habit and can often ‘climb’ nearby shrubs. Plants are not picky to soil conditions but prefer regular moisture. We recommend feeding Fuchsia regularly to encourage heavy blooming.
Cold hardy to USDA Zone 7a or to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
