Metroxylon amicarum

The Caroline Ivory Nut is a species of palm tree native to the Caroline Islands in Micronesia in the western Pacific Ocean.  The palm is a tall, slender tree with attractive feather-like foliage, a lush canopy, and unique, scale-adorned fruit. While the fruit of the Caroline Ivory Nut is attractive in its own right, its coveted for its tough and durable seed which has an ivory color when polished. These nuts have been historically used in the production of imitation ivory products, having a similar color, feel, and luster. The seeds of the Caroline Ivory Nut palm have been used in carving and woodturning to fashion ornaments, figurines, knick-knacks, doohickies, and thingamabobs.

For sale are sets of either one or two dried and cured nuts, not suitable for growing. Our Caroline Ivory Nuts measure approximately 2.5 inches wide by 2 inches deep.
