Chilean Hard Fern

$33.00
Sold Out

Parablechnum cordatum syn. Blechnum chilense

The Chilean Hard Fern is a remarkable evergreen fern species native to Southern Chile and Argentina in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. This striking fern is large, reaching up to five feet high and often spreads to form small colonies. The thick, leathery leaves have a cut and crinkled appearance, while the stems are covered in rough, brown scales, all which give the plant an exotic look. Chilean Hard Fern is native to moist, shady forests and makes a wonderful companion plant for larger shrubs.

Plants appreciate consistent moisture and partial shade. Chilean Hard Fern is adaptable to a range of soil types as long as they don’t get too dry. This verdant fern brings an element of intrigue to shaded areas or alongside water features and thrives under the canopies of larger trees. Its curious fronds often emerge pinkish-green, making a statement in a woodland garden or tropical-style landscape.

Cold hardy to USDA zone 7a or to 0 degrees Fahrenheit

For sale are one gallon potted plants.
