Coast Redwood

from $3.00

Sequoia sempervirens

Native to the coastal mountains of southern Oregon and Northern California, the towering Coast Redwoods are one of the most impressive and iconic tree species on the planet. Naturally growing in the wild in foggy, temperate rainforests, Coast Redwood trees grow in a humid climate that features warm summers and cool, but not cold, winters. Among the largest tree species on earth in terms of height and volume, it’s not unusual to see trees exceed 300 feet in height and 18 feet in diameter. Coast Redwoods are also known to be extraordinarily long-lived, with many surviving trees estimated to be several thousands of years old.

Despite their relatively small native range, Coast Redwood trees are not difficult to grow in cultivation. They prefer well-draining soil, full sun, regular moisture and adequate nutrition.

Cold hardy to USDA Zone 7a or to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
