Dwarf Tree Fern
Blechnum gibbum ‘Silver Lady’
The Dwarf Tree Fern is an elegant fern species native to the islands of the South Pacific, particularly in Fiji and New Caledonia. This so-called “tree fern” slowly develops a trunk which grows to reach up to four feet in height. Its short stature, along with its compact canopy of fronds, makes this fern a wonderful accent in the garden, on the patio, or indoors as a dramatic houseplant.
Attractive foliage is a bright green color with undulating edges, that make an upward pointing rosette atop the plant’s dark trunk. Dwarf Tree Ferns are moderately low-maintenance and appreciate part or full shade and consistent moisture. Plants are frost sensitive, so if you live in a cold-winter climate, we recommend keeping this one in a container.
Cold hardy to USDA zone 10a, or to approximately 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
