Plants have round, glossy, dark green leaves that are held up like an umbrella on a single stem. The variety gigantea, or ‘Giganteum’, is a large-leaf form that lends a lush, tropical look to the shade garden. If the foliage isn’t enough, showy sprays of yellow, daisy-like flowers appear in late autumn when few other plants are blooming.
