Jojoba

$5.00

Simmondsia chinensis

Jojoba is an evergreen, woody shrub native to the arid deserts of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. If you’ve ever browsed the shampoo aisle at the supermarket, you’ve likely seen products touting ‘Jojoba Oil’, which is pressed from the nut of this plant. Jojoba oil purportedly has high levels of wax esters that are similar to those the human body naturally produces, so the ingredient has become popular in cosmetics.

Jojoba shrubs grow between six and ten feet high and have a dense habit with leathery, waxy, grey leaves. Plants are either male or female, with nuts borne on female individuals. This species is exceptionally well adapted to heat, drought, and poor soils. We recommend full sun and good drainage for best growth.

Cold hardy to USDA zone 8b and above or to 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

For sale are packets of 5 seeds
