Ribes uva-crispa 'Little Ben'

Ribes uva-crispa, commonly known as Gooseberry, is a deciduous shrub that is native to Europe. The plant typically grows to a height of six feet and has a spreading, open habit. ‘Little Ben’ produces large, red gooseberries that have a tart, slightly sweet flavor that are excellent for fresh eating or prepared in jams, jellies, pies, and pastries. ‘Little Ben’ is a self-fruitful variety.

Gooseberry plants prefer a cool, moist climate and well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter and partial shade or filtered sunlight. Plants are not particularly drought tolerant and prefer regular watering during the growing season.
