Luma apiculata 'Good Shepherd'

$30.00

Luma apiculata, also known as Chilean Myrtle or Arrayán , is an evergreen tree native to the central Andes between Chile and Argentina. Our selection ‘Good Shepherd’ is distinct in having a narrow, upright form and thin trunks with exfoliating, patchy white and cinnamon bark and small, dense foliage. Like our standard Luma selection, this species produces an edible fruit that makes a delightful, aromatic jam, sauce, or dessert.

This small-leaf clone has predominantly white exfoliating bark, while our standard offering has larger leaves and mostly orange bark. ‘Good Shepherd’ appears to be more cold hardy. Note that this selection is not the same as ‘Nahuel Huapi’.

Trees can ultimately reach thirty feet high in the garden with time and perform well in sun or shade. Luma apiculata ‘Good Shepherd’ prefers regular moisture but is otherwise very adaptable.

Cold hardy to USDA zone 7b or to 5 degrees Fahrenheit

For sale are one gallon potted plants
