Redwood Sorrel is a evergreen perennial native to the coniferous forests of the Pacific Northwest of North America. In its native habitat, Redwood Sorrel forms a thick groundcover in the heavy shade of the forest floor. The cultivar ‘Klamath Ruby’ has characteristic silver patches on the tops of its delicate, clover-like leaves and striking red undersides. In early summer, slender stems rise just above the foliage, bearing dainty, pale pink flowers that add a subtle glow to the garden.
Plants thrive in partial to deep shade, well-drained soils, and regular moisture. ‘Klamath Ruby’ is a vigorous selection of this superb woodland plant and will spread with time to form a lush carpet when allowed. Redwood Sorrel is easily plucked and removed where it is not wanted. An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, fairy gardens, stumperies, or water features.
Cold hardy to USDA zone 7b and above, or to 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
