Kadsura coccinea is a striking, evergreen vine often called Tiger Grape, Dragon Vine, or Crimson Kadsura. Tiger Grape is native to South China and the montane regions of Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam where it is locally cultivated for its edible fruit. The large, compound fruit is incredibly exotic looking, not quite resembling anything familiar. Our selection produces red fruit that will grow to about the size of baseball, if not a little larger. Despite its tropical appearance, Tiger Grape is a temperate species that will tolerate moderate freezes.
Plants have large, glossy, leathery leaves year-round and attractive red and cream flowers in summer. Tiger Grape vines prefer fertile, well-drained soil, regular moisture, and half day sun or part sun. We believe this species will be self-fertile, but multiple plants will likely lead to better yields.
Cold hardy to USDA Zone 7b or to 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
For sale a pint potted plants, approximately 2 years old from seed and one foot in length
