Fairy's Fishing Rod
Dierama pulcherrimum
Fairy’s Fishing Rod, also known as Angel’s Fishing Rod or Wand Flower, is a delightful evergreen perennial plant that brightens up any sunny garden. Dense and tough, iris-like fans of fine foliage make this South Africa native plant almost resemble a large ornamental grass. However, unlike any grasses that we know of, long peduncles of hot pink, bell-shaped flowers dangle and bob far off these plants in a showy display that lasts several weeks every summer.
Ultimately reaching four feet high and wide, Fairy’s Fishing Rod is a great addition to rock gardens, Mediterranean style plantings, or as a border planting in a formal garden. Plants do prefer full sun and good drainage, although they are tough and adaptable.
Cold hardy to USDA zone 8a or to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
For sale are 1 gallon potted plants.
