Hardy Fuchsia 'Hawkshead'

$22.00

Fuchsia magellanica 'Hawkshead'

Fuchsia magellanica, commonly known as the Hardy Fuchsia or Hummingbird Fuchsia, is a species of flowering shrub native to the temperate foothills of the Andes Mountains in southern Chile and Argentina. This species is one of the most cold hardy of the genus Fuchsia and is well adapted to snowy winters. Hardy Fuchsia has been a popular garden ornamental for its graceful, arching habit and slender, pendulous flowers that bloom all season long. The variety ‘Hawkshead’ has an upright habit and pure white flowers.

Growing up to four feet high and wide, Hardy Fuchsia prefers part sun. Plants are not picky to soil conditions but prefer regular moisture. We recommend feeding Fuchsia regularly to encourage heavy blooming. ‘Hawkshead’ tolerates winter temperatures down close to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. While very cold temperatures may cause the plant to die down to the ground, they reliably come back in spring year after year.

Cold hardy to USDA Zone 7a or to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
