Silver Spear Astelia

$30.00

Astelia chathamica

Silver Spear Astelia is an evergreen perennial plant endemic to the Chatham Islands of New Zealand. Astelia are clump-forming perennial plants that superficially resemble a sedge, with tufts of long, pleated leaves that cast a silvery sheen. Silver Spear Astelia sports shimmering, silver leaves and can be used in the garden much like the unrelated New Zealand Flax (Phormium) or Flax Lilies (Dianella). This plant performs well in rock gardens, garden borders, and an understory planting.

Plants grow to about four feet high and wide and are adaptable to different soil types. Silver Spear Astelia is drought tolerant once established, but will need occasional irrigation to look its best. We recommend full or part sun and regular moisture for best growth.

Cold hardy to USDA zone 9a or to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

For sale are one gallon plants
